An old fuse box with rewireable fuses or no RCD protection is one of the most common problems our electricians find. A fuse board change, replacing the old fuse box with a new consumer unit, protects you from shocks and fire, and makes faults far easier to trace.
What's included
- Fuse box to consumer unit replacement with RCBO or RCD protection
- Surge protection where it is needed
- Upgrades for extensions, EV chargers and new circuits
- Consumer unit relocations, extending existing circuits to a new position
- Distribution boards for shops and commercial units
- Full testing and certification once fitted
Who we do this for
This service is available to our domestic, commercial, retail and new build housing customers.

Common questions about Fuse board changes
Is a fuse board the same as a consumer unit?
Yes. Fuse board, fuse box and consumer unit all describe the same thing: the unit that controls and protects the circuits in your property. Modern consumer units use RCD and RCBO protection instead of old rewireable fuses.
Do I need a consumer unit upgrade?
If you have an old fuse box, no RCD protection, or a plastic consumer unit in a hallway or under the stairs, an upgrade is usually recommended. A consumer unit replacement is also often needed before adding an EV charger or extension.
